FAQ
Why is my pet's grooming so expensive?
Our groomers are experienced professionals. Grooming includes a wash, blow dry, scissors haircut and styling, ear cleaning, teeth cleaning, and the anal glands are expressed (upon request). Other shops may use less experienced groomers who may shave down your pet and or use inferior equipment.
What days do you offer grooming?
We currently offer grooming 7 days a week and clients can schedule between 10AM-4PM.
Do you offer cat grooming?
Yes! However, only certain groomers are properly trained to handle and groom cats. We recommend that you call or stop by one of our stores to find out the current availability when you are ready to book your appointment.
Do I have to schedule an appointment for grooming?
We recommend that you book a reservation with one of our sales associates. This may be done either in person or over the phone. We do welcome walk ins, but a reservation guarantees your pet a spot for grooming as certain days such as the weekend can get booked very quickly.
Do I need to bring copies of my pet vaccinations on the day of grooming?
Yes! We need to ensure that your pet is up to date on his or her vaccinations. We cannot accept your pet for grooming if you do not bring his or her current vaccination records. It is a requirement of the NYC Department of Health.
What happens if I cannot make my appointment or need to reschedule?
We will call you the day before your appointment to confirm. We require 24 hours notice if you cannot keep your reservation. If you fail to provide ample notice or do not show up to your scheduled appointment, then we will refuse to book a reservation for your pet in the future. You will only be allowed into grooming as a walk in. Please be mindful of our groomers and fellow pet parents when booking a slot of grooming.
Do I need to make an appointment to have my pet's nails trimmed?
No, but we do recommend that you call ahead to ensure there is a groomer in the store that day that can perform this service.
I was quoted one price on the phone, but charged a different price for grooming?
Any quote for grooming a sales associate gives you either over the phone or in person is an estimate. The groomer has the final say in the price. There are many variables that impact the price of grooming such as whether or not your pet is matted and or aggresive. These conditions require the groomer to spend a longer time with your pet. The groomer will thoroughly inspect your pet and give you the final price upon check in.
My pet was very matted when he came in for grooming and I was charged extra. What can I do to avoid this surcharge in the future?
Matting hurts your dog because your dog's fur will start forming knots and pull at his or her skin. It is very painful for your pet and even more painful when the groomer trys to remove the mats. Pets with good temperament can become aggressive during grooming because removing the mats is painful. You can avoid this surcharge in the future by brushing your pet's fur daily. We can recommend the right brush for your breed, but you must brush your pet thoroughly. If you cannot run a comb through your pet's hair, then you should be brushing more frequently.
My pet was aggressive when he came in for grooming and I was charged extra. What can I do to avoid this surcharge in the future?
Your pet needs to get used to being handled and needs to get more familiar with our groomers. You should be brushing your pet at home and touching their paws regularly. This will help your pet get used to being handled. You should bring your pet into the store regularly so that he or she can famliarize himself or herself with the environment. A treat for good behavior also helps your pet associate being handled as a positive experience.
Am I allowed to stay in the grooming room during my pet's appointment?
No. Unfortunately, our insurance only covers us for pets in the grooming room and not our clients.
